So its summer! A time for travelling, trips and vacations and for most of us one of our biggest problem is packing. So here are 5 easy tips on how to pack your luggage to get you ready for your next trip.
1. Have a checklist.
Make sure you have your packing list so as not to forget any important items. Check the weather of the destination your going to so as to know what to pack. It’s also best to gather all the items on your list and then eliminate all the unnecessary items to avoid over-packing.
2. Use the inside of your shoes as storage space.
Use the inside of your shoes as storage space. Stuff your socks, underwear and any other small trinkets inside the shoe ( this also helps to keep the shape of the shoe) then place it in a bag and place at the bottom of the suitcase. Its also best to pack shoe heel to toe. Once you have packed the shoes fill awkward gaps with softer, wrinkle resistant garments such as t-shirts and cotton pants.
3.How to place folded items.
Next fold stiffer or wrinkle prone garments and place them to the side or on top of the rolled clothes; depending on the space available.
4.Drape longer, bulky garments.
Stack garments on top of each other, alternating waist with hems. Position the pile plush with suitcase draping left over fabric over the opposite end. Wrap the draping ends of the pile into the center. Next lay collars of sorter items like shirts at the hinge with the end over the handles. Fold the collars and ends over once and fold the arms in. To maximize space and avoid creases place a dry cleaning bag on top of your garments.
5. Non clothing items
Place non clothing items such as book(s), camera(s) and toiletries on top towards the middle for protection. Remember to place toiletries in a zip lock bag, preferably two to prevent leakage and stains.
- Instead of rolling belts, snake belts around the perimeter of the suitcase.
- Stow jewelry inside a pill box or film canister.
- Smaller jewelry can be worn on the plane or place in a straw to avoid tangle.
- Pack double duty garments such as yoga pants that can moonlight as pajamas.
So you see with these useful tips packing can be a “breeze” and not an hassle. So go ahead pack and get ready for your next trip.
