Learn travel tips on how to comfortably sleep when you’re travelling on a plane or train.
Many many of you have asked me this question: Sonia, how do I sleep when I am on a train or on a plane? and thank you for asking because there is a right way and a very wrong way to go about this whole sleeping ordeal.
Bad: Come unprepared
Good: Have a sleeping plan
Bad: Have caffeine before boarding
Good: Drink loads of water
Bad: Eat that sugary muffin while you were waiting to board
Good: No sugar!
Now that we have that out of the way, what you need to do is come prepare so that your space is ready for your body to just relax and dose off as it should.
#1 – Block Off All Light
Sleeping masks are a must the best have a boarder around the edges to truly block the light.
And if this is interesting to you, let me know in the comments below. I can do a review about sleeping masks, I have tried them all
#2 – Block Off All Sound
Earplugs do the trick and are cheap. My preference though is sound cancelling headphones and they are God send..thank you!
#3 – Neck Support
It can be with the neck pillow: the stiffer and fuller the better. If you dont have one, roll up your sweater or jacket or ask for a blanket put it around your neck so you can rest your head on it
And a little extra tip…
I roll up my scarf and put it right in that separation between my lower back and the seat
Personally, I try to stay away from the drowsy formulas but that’s because they don’t do my body good. I just wake up too groggy. So, what I do is if I need to absolutely need to sleep on the plane or on the train..the day of, I wake up extra early and I mean like 4 or 5am early so that when I get on it, Im so sleepy that I just dose right of.
And that is it, that’s it, that’s the magic formula for sleep.
