Overrated is a term that best describes something that is praised too highly. It can be used to describe food, events, couture, and places. It can very well be the best adjective to describe a place that is good for travel. You probably have some places in mind that is often perceived by many as overrated. You get to learn that such places are talked about, and are often placed on the bucket list yet when visited, these places fall short of the expectations that are expected of them. Talk about Disneyland or Hollywood, these are surely placed on anyone’s bucket list. Apart from them, there are a lot of places in different parts of the world that are, well, overrated.
Disneyland is probably the place that would surely top everyone’s bucket list. With its strong following because of its hit Disney movies, every child and adult would surely want to go and see what magic Disneyland has within its walls. From America, to Europe and Asia the expansion of Disneyland can never be put to a halt as many people are so enchanted with its beauty. Even if going to Disneyland means having to fall in line and queue with different people for hours just so you can enjoy the 5 minute rides, many people are still going to this famed park. Moreover, prices for food, souvenirs and even transportation while on the park are sky-high.
Second on the list would be Hollywood, many people intend to travel to Hollywood just so they can see their favorite A-list celebrity, in fact it is a pilgrimage dreamed by many. It is quite surprising why anyone would still want to go on a boulevard that seems like any other, apart from just the tiled stars that lined it. And since it is a public path, you’d better expect in your travel food wrappers, cigarettes butts and trashes to dot the area.
With Greek mythology, Greece is another place that everyone wishes to travel to at least once but is also over-rated. When Greece is talked about, you might picture romance and people wearing regalia with olive branches on their heads, but reality is, just like any capital city, pollution and overcrowding also permeates the metropolis. When planning a travel to Greece, don’t be surprise to breathe in smog, and you’ll probably be dismayed with the marginal food they have.
Next stop would be Turkey. Thanks to Dan Brown’s novel, Turkey has been placed on the world map as a must travel destination, though not discounting its rich cultural significance. The country is literally flocked by vendors, especially on its tourist spots, and because it is a big city, expect pollution to be your day to day thing.
Lastly, visit the Stonehenge. The mysteriously erected rocks in the middle of nowhere are a thing that will arouse your interest. But when you get to travel to the place, the place will not really give you the wow factor that you expect from your travel or from postcards you saw. There are probably more interesting points that you can travel while you are in London than going to the Stonehenge. So in your next travel, get your mind prepared when you have these sites on your bucket list.
