The consciousness of society is awakening to a planet in need of help.  We all must answer the call and start looking at ways to do our part and eliminate unnecessary waste.  Recycling plastic alone is not enough, you have to end support for plastic as well.  One of these big contributors is plastic water bottles.  Many are opting to switch to more eco-friendly products like glass water bottles from Exhilarate.

Clean it up!

Research has shown that a staggering 2.7 million tons of plastic is produced each year for water bottles alone.  The kicker is that nearly all of that goes to the dumps or gets incinerated.  Recycled plastic exists, but even less than recycled paper.  Americans purchase 30 billion (with a ‘B’) plastic bottles every single year.  This is a lot of plastic, which probably only sees maybe an hour of use on average.

It’s also worth noting that plastic production makes up of 4 percent of all energy needs in the United States.  This is a troubling statistic in a time where fossil fuels are drying-up all around the world.  We shouldn’t be wasting that on producing products that contribute directly to pollution and global climate change.

Think Green

Glass water bottles can reverse this trend of wastefulness.  They are 100% recyclable and retain their quality and clarity virtually forever.  This compound of sand can return back into the Earth with no hard done or consequences, as with plastics, which take over 500 years to biodegrade.  You know what you’re getting with glass water bottles, you don’t, however, always have that luxury when you buy plastic.  Some still use the dangerous chemicals like BPA, still.

Once you get into the habit of bringing your own glass water bottle around, you will start to appreciate the huge improvements in taste and long-term usability.  Just try any beverage in a glass water bottle and see if doesn’t taste more refined or vibrant.

We might see a day when plastic water bottles are outlawed.  We are already witnessing places like California ban plastic bags, which have an even smaller impact on the environment than water bottles.  Just take it upon yourself to motivate your friends and family to switch to glass water bottles for all the reasons listed.  It doesn’t take a lot to get people talking about it, once they try one for themselves.
